Lithium-Ion Battery Care Guide
• Global: In 2023, the top five energy storage battery enterprises in terms of global shipment volume were all Chinese companies, namely CATL, BYD, EVE Energy, RuiPu LanJun, and HCES. Among them, CATL's shipment volume reached 74 GWh, accounting for 40% of the global market share. Among the top ten enterprises in terms of shipment volume, eight were Chinese companies, with a total shipment volume of 160 GWh, accounting for 89.2%.
• China: CATL, BYD, EVE Energy and other enterprises hold a dominant position, relying on advantages such as technology, cost and scale, and have strong competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
Technology trends
• Large-capacity cells: It has become the main direction of iteration for energy storage products. Many leading enterprises such as CATL and EVE Energy have launched large-capacity energy storage cells of 500 Ah+, and plan to further accelerate the research and development and mass production of large-capacity energy storage cells.
• New battery technologies: The application of new battery technologies such as sodium-ion batteries and solid-state batteries in the energy storage field is gradually expanding. Sodium-ion batteries have entered the commercial application stage, while solid-state batteries show good development potential due to their high safety and long lifespan.
Application scenarios trends
With the continuous improvement of energy storage technology and the implementation of policies, new energy storage applications will achieve diversified development from two dimensions: power generation and grid-side energy storage and user-side energy storage. New market opportunities will emerge in new energy storage scenarios such as offshore wind power and offshore photovoltaic, low-altitude economy-related transportation electrification scenarios such as electric flying cars and electric aircraft, and vehicle-grid interaction scenarios such as "lighting, storage, charging, swapping and inspection" comprehensive charging and swapping stations.
